Project Compass Targets 764 Network: 30 Arrested, Victims Rescued
A Global Network of Exploiters Brought to Justice: Project Compass Takes Down 764
A massive international law enforcement operation has dismantled a significant portion of the notorious 764 network, a decentralized group of online exploiters who targeted minors and young adults.
The 764 Network
The 764 network, also known as The Com, was founded by a 15-year-old Texan, Bradley Chance Cadenhead, in 2020. Initially operating on gaming platforms like Minecraft, the group quickly evolved into a global menace, with various branches focusing on high-level hacking, ransomware attacks, and sextortion.
The group’s modus operandi involved tricking or blackmailing victims into creating explicit content, which was then used to coerce them into further exploitation.
Project Compass
Project Compass was launched in January 2025 to combat the 764 network’s nefarious activities. The initiative brought together law enforcement agencies from around the world to share intelligence, expertise, and best practices in tracking and apprehending the group’s members.
The operation’s success is evident in the numbers: 30 suspects have been arrested, 179 individuals have been identified as being involved in the network, and four victims have been rescued from immediate danger. An additional 62 victims have been identified and are receiving support.
The 764 network’s structure, which was decentralized and consisted of various subgroups, made it challenging for authorities to dismantle. However, the success of Project Compass demonstrates that international cooperation and collaboration can effectively disrupt and dismantle such networks.
Prior Arrests and Ongoing Efforts
Prior to the launch of Project Compass, law enforcement agencies had already made several arrests related to the 764 network. In the United States, a man was charged with cyberstalking and child exploitation offenses, and a teenager was indicted for crimes tied to the network.
The arrests highlighted the group’s disturbing tactics, including the recruitment and grooming of younger members to target other minors online.
The 764 network’s leaders were also targeted in a coordinated operation involving multiple countries. Two suspected leaders were arrested for their alleged roles in running a subgroup connected to the network, which was involved in online harassment campaigns and exploitation schemes.
