A recent data breach at online safety service Aura has exposed nearly 900,000 contact records, primarily containing names and addresses.
Breach Details
The breach occurred when an unauthorized party gained access to a marketing tool linked to a company acquired by Aura in 2021.
According to Aura, the breach was the result of a targeted phone phishing attack that tricked an employee into divulging sensitive information.
As a result, contact information related to fewer than 20,000 active customers and fewer than 15,000 former customers was accessed. The exposed data also includes IP addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, and customer service comments.
