Tracebit Secures $20 Million in Series A Funding

A cybersecurity startup specializing in cloud-native threat deception technology has secured $20 million in Series A funding, bringing the company’s total raised capital to $25 million. The investment round was led by FirstMark, with additional support from several prominent venture capital firms.

About Tracebit

Tracebit, founded in 2023 and based in London, UK, has developed a unique approach to threat detection using tailored canaries, or fake honeypots, to attract and identify potential threats across an organization’s entire environment. These decoy assets are designed to lure attackers into revealing their location, enabling security teams to quickly identify compromised accounts and respond accordingly.

Cloud-Native Technology

The company’s cloud-native technology is specifically designed to address the modern tech stack, providing a robust detection layer for identifying and mitigating threats. Recently, Tracebit expanded its portfolio with the introduction of Perimeter Canaries, new decoys designed to be deployed at the edge of SaaS and cloud environments for faster detection of AI-powered and agentic attacks.

Future Plans

In addition to the new funding, Tracebit has also launched Deceptive Artefacts and GCP Support, and plans to use the investment to support the rollout of these new products. The company will also focus on expanding its presence across the US, enhancing customer support, and growing its go-to-market and engineering teams.

According to David Waltcher, partner at FirstMark, “Tracebit is building the cloud-native deception and detection layer for the AI era, providing security teams with the highest signal proof of compromise. We believe that ‘assume breach’ will become the default posture for modern enterprises, and Tracebit is leading that shift.”

Conclusion

The new funding will enable Tracebit to further develop its technology and expand its reach in the market, as the company continues to innovate in the field of cloud-native threat deception.
