Cogent Security Secures $42 Million in Series A Funding

A San Francisco-based cybersecurity company, Cogent Security, has secured $42 million in Series A funding to further develop its AI-driven vulnerability management platform.

The funding round was led by Bain Capital Ventures, with participation from Greylock Partners, Definition, and several high-profile executives from the tech industry.

Total Funding Reaches $53 Million

This latest investment brings Cogent Security’s total funding to $53 million, which will be used to accelerate the development of its autonomous AI agents designed to automate vulnerability remediation.

The company’s platform addresses the challenges of vulnerability management by connecting and normalizing vulnerability data across environments, handling scanner noise, and incorporating business context.

The system prioritizes risks based on environmental factors beyond standard severity scores, surfaces emerging threats, and generates tailored remediation plans integrated into existing workflows.

According to Vineet Edupuganti, CEO and co-founder of Cogent Security, “Security teams are overwhelmed with coordination work, chasing down system owners, writing tickets, and proving fixes happened. Our AI agents handle that work end-to-end, so security teams can finally keep pace with attackers.”

Automating Investigation, Prioritization, and Remediation

Cogent Security’s platform is designed to automate investigation, prioritization, and remediation tasks, allowing security teams to focus on more strategic work.

The company’s AI agents can handle tasks such as identifying and prioritizing vulnerabilities, generating remediation plans, and integrating with existing workflows.

Expanding Go-to-Market Efforts

The funding will be used to further develop the platform and expand the company’s go-to-market efforts.

With the increasing complexity of cybersecurity threats, Cogent Security’s AI-driven approach to vulnerability management is well-positioned to help organizations stay ahead of emerging threats.
