US Department of Health and Human Services Releases Updated Cybersecurity Toolkit

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released an updated toolkit designed to help healthcare organizations assess their cybersecurity preparedness and identify potential risks.

RISC 2.0 Toolkit Overview

The Risk Identification and Site Criticality (RISC) 2.0 toolkit allows healthcare providers to evaluate their cybersecurity practices and compare their facilities across systems, coalitions, and regions.

The RISC 2.0 toolkit is available on the HHS website, where organizations can input facility information and complete self-assessments. These assessments generate reports that evaluate the organization’s preparedness for potential crises, including natural disasters and cyberattacks.

According to John Knox, HHS’s principal deputy assistant secretary for preparedness and response, the new module will help healthcare organizations understand what is needed to strengthen their resilience and encourage them to take advantage of it.
