Windows 11 Emergency Update Fixes Preview Installation Issues
Microsoft has released an out-of-band update to resolve the installation issues associated with the March 2026 non-security preview update for Windows 11.
Main Issue Addressed:
- The optional cumulative update, designated as KB5086672, addresses a known problem that prevented some users from installing the preview update successfully.
Update Details:
- This update supersedes the previously released KB5079391 preview update.
- It includes all the protections and improvements from the March 2026 Windows security and non-security preview updates.
Installation Instructions:
- Devices running Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 will receive the update automatically if the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” setting is enabled.
- Otherwise, users can install the update manually by navigating to Settings > Windows Update.
Additional Updates:
- A separate update was released to address a Bluetooth device visibility bug affecting hotpatch-enabled Windows 11 Enterprise devices.
- Guidance has been provided for resolving a C:\\ drive access issue on Samsung Windows 11 laptops caused by faulty versions of the Samsung Galaxy Connect and Samsung Continuity Service apps.
