In a significant breakthrough, authorities have apprehended three individuals accused of duping a student out of ₹22 lakh by promising MBBS admission through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The victim, a resident of the same district, reported the alleged scam to the local cyber police station on March 17, detailing how she was convinced by the perpetrators that they could secure confirmed seats in government and private medical colleges.

According to the victim, “They promised me a confirmed seat in a government college and asked me to pay ₹22 lakh, which I did over several transactions via online channels.”

Investigations revealed that the gang had been targeting aspiring medical professionals for months, preying on their hopes and emotions to extort substantial sums of money.

Takedown Operation

On April 3, the accused were taken into custody near Lucknow’s Charbagh Bus Stand after being tracked down by detectives.
