A 30-year-old individual en route to Delhi for interrogation regarding a suspected Rs 1 crore cyber fraud was fatally pushed from a moving train near Ghaziabad, resulting in the detention of his travel companion.

Background of the Cyber Fraud Inquiry

On September 9, investigators visited Singh’s residence in Pilibhit to examine his involvement in unauthorized transactions. Singh claimed his personal documents and signatures were provided to the associate, who denied direct control over the bank account linked to the fraud. The associate alleged the records were transferred to a third party in Gohaniya, a location that could not be verified by officials. Subsequently, both individuals were summoned to Delhi for formal questioning.

Fatal Journey on Kashi Vishwanath Express

The victim and suspect boarded the Kashi Vishwanath Express on the night of September 15 to comply with the summons. Police investigations indicated the suspect feared the inquiry would exonerate Singh while shifting legal responsibility onto himself. This concern allegedly led to the fatal act. As the train passed Ghaziabad station and approached Kaila Kheda near Mahamaya Stadium, the suspect reportedly lured Singh to the carriage door under false pretenses before pushing him onto the tracks. Singh sustained critical injuries upon impact. Following the incident, the suspect contacted Singh’s brother, falsely asserting that Singh had disembarked at Ghaziabad to return home via tempo. The suspect then deactivated his mobile device.

Identification, Arrest, and Financial Probe

Local authorities recovered Singh’s body on September 16 and shared images with village officials in Pilibhit, enabling family identification. A complaint filed by Singh’s father prompted the Vijaynagar police to initiate proceedings. The suspect was detained in connection with the murder. Investigators are examining the financial framework behind the crime. Records show the bank account under Singh’s name was managed by an external party, with the arrested suspect allegedly receiving monetary benefits.

Ongoing Efforts and Investigations

Ongoing efforts focus on tracing financial flows, document transfers, and transaction records tied to the Rs 1 crore fraud. Forensic and documentary evidence is being compiled for judicial review.
