RCB Ticket Scam Unfolds: Police Crack Down on Fake Website

The Bengaluru police have launched an investigation into a sophisticated cybercrime operation that preyed on fans seeking tickets to Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

Sophisticated Cybercrime Operation Uncovered

  • A fake website mimicked the look and feel of the official Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ticket portal.
  • The perpetrators exploited the high demand for tickets to specific matches.
  • Victims were led to a website displaying authentic-looking ticket options, but the link was disabled after processing payments.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Narayana, “We have instructed banks to block the accounts linked to the scam and have asked social media platforms to remove promotional content related to the fake website.”

Public Warned to Exercise Caution

  • Tickets for upcoming matches are sold out on the official RCB website and not available through any secondary or alternative links.
  • Fans are advised to prioritize verification and legitimacy when making transactions.
  • The police are urging the public to beware of websites claiming to offer bumper ticket sales out of curiosity.

The police are working to bring those responsible for the scam to justice and recover the money lost by victims.
