Dell Unveils Enhanced Security Capabilities to Counter Next-Generation Threats

In a bid to fortify its defenses against emerging security threats, Dell Technologies has rolled out a suite of advanced security solutions. These new offerings aim to counter the evolving risks associated with quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to John Roese, Global CTO and Chief AI Officer, Dell Technologies:

“Quantum computing will break the encryption and digital signatures protecting data today, while agentic AI raises the stakes by increasing the value of data and autonomously sharing it across teams and organizations.”

By hardening device foundations, strengthening cyber resilience, and expanding threat detection capabilities, Dell seeks to empower organizations to better secure, detect, and recover from sophisticated cyberattacks.

Enhanced Security Features

  • Quantum-Ready Security Features: Dell has introduced quantum-ready security features for its commercial PCs, enhancing the embedded controller (EC) to verify firmware updates using post-quantum standards.
  • PowerProtect Cyber Resilience Portfolio: Dell has strengthened its PowerProtect cyber resilience portfolio to aid organizations in detecting threats, such as ransomware, more efficiently.
  • Data Domain Operating System: The updated Data Domain Operating System now includes support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3, ensuring secure data transmission between systems.
  • Managed Detection and Response (MDR) Service: Dell has extended its MDR service to include Dell PowerScale environments, allowing organizations to gain enhanced visibility into threats targeting their AI data storage platforms.
  • Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) Option: A new EDR-only option is available, monitoring, investigating, and responding to endpoint threats using advanced threat detection and next-generation antivirus capabilities.

Benefits

  • No Business Disruption: Real-world applications of Dell’s enhanced security capabilities have already shown promise, such as the Palladium Hotel Group implementing PowerProtect Data Manager’s transparent snapshots without any business disruption.
  • Lower Risk of Data Loss: The same real-world application resulted in lower risk of data loss.
  • Significantly Reduced VM Backup Times: The implementation also led to significantly reduced VM backup times.

Overall, Dell’s latest security offerings represent a crucial step forward in countering the complex security landscape of the future.
