Enhance Network Security with Unified Threat Forensics and Retrospective Analysis Solutions from VIAVI

The Evolution of Cybersecurity: Introducing VIAVI’s Observer Threat Forensics

The cybersecurity landscape is evolving, with a growing need for converged network and security operations teams, known as NetSecOps. This shift is driven by the recognition that traditional siloed approaches to incident response can lead to critical gaps in resilience. To address this challenge, VIAVI Solutions has introduced its Observer Threat Forensics solution, which features advanced retrospective analysis capabilities.

Enhancing Visibility Across Operational Teams

Observer Threat Forensics is designed to enhance visibility across operational teams, enabling organizations to identify potential vulnerabilities and conduct post-detection analyses of breaches. This includes determining the intrusion point and exposed data. The solution is built on VIAVI’s expertise in network operations management, combined with secure network infrastructure and threat intelligence powered by CrowdStrike.

The platform unifies packet insights, flow data, and log telemetry into a single NetSecOps workflow, providing a comprehensive view of the organization’s end-user experience, performance issues, and their root causes. This unified approach allows security and network teams to leverage common datasets to gain performance insights and investigate security threats.

The Challenges of Adopting a NetSecOps Approach

According to VIAVI’s State of the Network study, 79% of CIOs and CISOs believe that the existing siloed model is ill-suited to modern networks and lacks key visibility, which can introduce risk. However, only 27% of organizations have begun to transition to a converged operational framework. This highlights the challenges organizations face when adopting a NetSecOps approach.

“Organizations struggle to transition to a converged operational framework, which is why we’ve developed Observer Threat Forensics,” said Chris Labac, VP and GM, Network Performance and Threat Solutions, VIAVI. “By leveraging common datasets, NetOps and SecOps teams can gain a deeper understanding of the situation across the entire enterprise, eliminate noise, and close data gaps.”

“Security and network teams can no longer operate in silos, as adversaries do not,” said Daniel Bernard, Chief Business Officer, CrowdStrike. “Together, we’re helping customers unify NetSecOps workflows with the adversary intelligence required to outpace modern threats.”
