CareCloud Discloses Potential Data Breach Incident

On March 27, healthcare IT platform provider CareCloud revealed a cybersecurity incident that may have resulted in the compromise of patient information.

“The company assessed that the incident had no material impact and that any potential losses would be covered by cyber insurance.” – CareCloud

  • The incident occurred on March 16 and lasted for approximately eight hours, affecting one of its six electronic health record environments.
  • CareCloud reported the incident to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) due to the sensitivity of the potentially compromised information.
  • No known ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack on CareCloud at this time.

CareCloud stated that the incident was confined to its CareCloud Health environment and did not impact other platforms, divisions, systems, data, or environments.

Investigation Ongoing

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with CareCloud working to determine whether the unauthorized party accessed or exfiltrated any patient information or other data stored in the compromised environment.
