As the most recent retailer to be targeted by cybercriminals, Louis Vuitton has reported that the data of some of its UK customers has been taken.

According to the shop, the top brand of the French luxury conglomerate LVMH, an unauthorized third party gained access to the networks of its UK operation and stole data, including names, contact information, and past purchases.

The company assured consumers that no bank account information or other financial information had been compromised after claiming last week that a similar cyberattack had affected its Korean operation.

The email stated that although there is currently no proof that your data has been exploited, “phishing attempts, fraud attempts, or unauthorised use of your information may occur.”

The business claimed to have informed the Information Commissioner’s Office and other pertinent authorities.

According to Bloomberg, which broke the news first, the hack happened on July 2.  In the past three months, there have been three system breaches at LVMH.

Christian Dior Couture, the second-largest fashion brand owned by LVMH, reported in May that hackers had obtained some client data in addition to the two attacks on Louis Vuitton.

Four people were taken into custody on Thursday in connection with an investigation into cyberattacks on Harrods, the Co-op, and Marks & Spencer.

Three people were arrested: a British woman from Staffordshire, age 20, a Latvian guy from the West Midlands, age 19, a British man from London, and a 17-year-old British kid from the West Midlands.

The first retailer to be attacked was M&S, which had to shut down its online site for over seven weeks in April.  Parts of the Co-op’s IT system had to be taken down due to an attack that occurred in the same month.

Following attempts to obtain unauthorized access to its systems, Harrods said on May 1st that it had been targeted and that internet access had been blocked on all of its websites.

The arrests followed days after M&S chief Archie Norman described the “traumatic” attack on the firm to MPs, revealing that two other major British corporations had been impacted by unreported cyberattacks in recent months.

A request for comment has been sent to Louis Vuitton.
