Manifold Secures $8 Million in Seed Funding to Develop AI Detection and Response Platform
A California-based cybersecurity startup, Manifold, has secured $8 million in seed funding to further develop its AI Detection and Response (AIDR) platform. The investment round was led by Costanoa Ventures, with participation from Cherry Ventures, Rain Capital, Modern Technical Fund, and several angel investors.
Manifold’s AIDR Platform
Manifold’s AIDR platform provides real-time visibility into the activities of AI agents running within an organization’s environment. The platform maps the tools and systems accessed by these agents, as well as their actions, and flags any behavioral anomalies in real-time. By deploying on existing infrastructure, Manifold’s platform can uncover connections to MCP servers, databases, and external systems, enabling security teams to quickly identify and respond to rogue agents.
According to Manifold CEO and co-founder Neal Swaelens, the rise of AI-powered tools has created a new security challenge. “Every developer has coding agents on their laptop with access to sensitive systems and data, and this same pattern is now being repeated across the organization with the adoption of new AI-powered tools,” Swaelens said. “These agents don’t just access data, they execute actions, and first-generation AI security tools were not designed to address this issue. That’s the problem Manifold is solving.”
