Microsoft Edge 145 Brings Enhanced Enterprise Security Features and Upgrades
Microsoft Rolls Out Edge 145 with Enhanced Enterprise Security Features
Microsoft has started deploying Edge 145 to the Stable release channel, introducing several significant security upgrades aimed at enterprise users. The update is being rolled out in phases, with some features available through preview and targeted release programs.
Enhanced Data Protection Capabilities
One of the key enhancements in Edge 145 is the expansion of data protection capabilities for Edge for Business. The browser now supports cross-tenant enforcement of Intune App Protection Policies through Intune Mobile Application Management, allowing organizations to apply data loss prevention policies more effectively.
Extension Security Enhancements
The update also focuses on extension security, enabling Edge to detect and revoke malicious sideloaded extensions installed outside approved channels. The Edge management service has been enhanced to include extension monitoring, providing administrators with visibility into extensions installed for managed users and the ability to handle blocked extension requests.
Improved Password Management
Furthermore, Edge 145 improves the built-in password manager’s handling of related websites. The browser can now group affiliated domains together using a new password affiliation service, ensuring that the correct credentials are suggested when visiting connected properties. Administrators can control this feature through existing password management policies, including settings that disable password saving and autofill lookups if needed.
Additional Security Features
Organizations can also restrict profile editing and profile syncing, providing an additional layer of security and control. With these enhancements, Microsoft Edge 145 provides enterprise users with a more secure browsing experience, helping to protect sensitive data and prevent potential security threats.
