Microsoft Teams Outage Disrupts Service for Users in US and Europe

A widespread outage is currently affecting Microsoft Teams users in the United States and Europe, resulting in delays and failures when sending and receiving chat messages that include inline media such as images, code snippets, and videos.

According to user reports on DownDetector, a platform that tracks outages, the issue is also impacting users’ ability to join meetings with the Teams desktop client and access the Teams app.

Incident Report and Affected Users

Microsoft has confirmed the outage, which is being tracked under incident report TM1233974, and stated that the issue is specific to users served through the affected infrastructure in the US and Europe.

While the company has not disclosed the exact number of affected users, the incident has been flagged as a critical service issue with noticeable user impact.

Investigation and Resolution

The company’s engineers are actively reviewing service monitoring telemetry data to identify the root cause of the issue and develop a remediation plan.

In addition to this incident, Microsoft is also working to resolve two other issues, including one that prevents users from joining some Microsoft Teams meetings via the “Join” button in the meeting chat (tracked as TM1231009) and another that is causing problems with sending and receiving chat messages.

Recent Outages

This outage is not the first to affect Microsoft services in recent months.

In October 2025, a critical service issue took down multiple Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Teams, and caused issues with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for users attempting to access Microsoft 365 services via Microsoft Entra single sign-on (SSO).

Resolution Progress

Microsoft is working to resolve the current outage as quickly as possible to minimize the disruption to its users.

The company will provide updates on its progress in resolving the issue.
