Retired IAF Staffer Got Duped of 33 Lakhs in a Policy Scam by Cybercriminals
“Rising Policy Scams are indicating an alarming phase of increasing monetary losses to the victims and businesses.”
An 80-year-old retired Indian Air Force employee was scammed out of Rs 32.75 lakh by online scammers who claimed to have a greater life insurance policy valuation. The victim reported his cheating to the police on Monday, claiming it happened between December of last year and February.
The victim reportedly possesses a life insurance policy worth Rs 1.57 lakh, according to the police.

| “Posing as executives of the victim’s insurance company, the suspects called him and offered him a greater policy valuation in exchange for small payments.”
“The scammers had all of the victim’s information and his policy with the private company, and they called him constantly. The victim trusted them as a result.”
“After the suspects gave the victim access to the bank account details, the victim moved money to 6 separate bank accounts without telling his two kids. We have written to the banks to request information on these bank accounts so that we may look into them further, Jadhav added. |
