In order to increase awareness of online fraud, Meta has launched “Scam se Bacho 2.0” in Mumbai, using amusing signboards created by Signboard_wala. Building on the effort from the previous year, it engages the public and promotes safer online behavior using humor that is culturally relevant.

To prevent online fraud, Meta has launched “Scam se Bacho 2.0,” a street-based digital safety campaign that uses humorous signage from viral designer Signboard_wala in popular sites throughout Mumbai.

In addition to promoting Meta’s security features, such as two-factor authentication and block-and-report capabilities, the creative campaign uses humorous signboards with messages like “Ex ho ya scammer, dono ko block & report karo” and “Keep your friends close and your OTPs closer” to inform users about impersonation fraud, fake loan scams, and OTP theft.

In contrast to conventional awareness programs, this street-level strategy uses strong visual storytelling and humor that is culturally relevant to turn digital safety education into lively public discussions in Mumbai’s busiest neighborhoods.

The program expands upon the successful “Scams se Bacho” campaign from the previous year, which was started in association with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The campaign featured Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana.

The campaign encourages users to actively participate in digital safety practices while explicitly targeting prevalent online concerns like identity theft and bogus loan offers.

Without using scare tactics or an overbearing message, Meta hopes to create memorable moments that cause individuals to reevaluate their online security practices by fusing humor with important safety messaging.
