Vizag Cyber Slavery Racket Busted: Job Scam Accused Arrested for Trafficking Youth Abroad
Visakhapatnam Man Arrested for Cybercrime and Human Trafficking
A man from Visakhapatnam has been taken into custody for allegedly deceiving unemployed young individuals with fake job opportunities abroad and forcing them to participate in cybercrime operations in Southeast Asia.
Modus Operandi
According to investigators, the suspect, identified as Bongu Murali, operated an institute that promised high-paying jobs overseas, such as data entry positions. However, instead of providing legitimate employment, victims were sent to countries including Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia, where they were forced to work in cyber scam centers under duress.
These conditions are increasingly being referred to as modern-day “cyber slavery,” where individuals are trafficked and compelled to commit online crimes.
Investigation and Arrest
The case came to light after a victim returned from Cambodia and filed a complaint, detailing the extent of the exploitation. The victim alleged that he was subjected to physical and emotional abuse, forced to participate in cybercrime activities, and was under constant pressure to meet scam targets.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to collecting money from job seekers, arranging travel and flight tickets, and sending victims to overseas scam networks. Police stated that he already faces multiple cases of fraud and cheating, indicating a pattern of organized criminal activity.
Prevention and Awareness
A Look Out Circular (LOC) has been issued, and stringent legal provisions have been invoked to prevent further exploitation. Police officials have warned that severe action will be taken against anyone involved in such schemes, particularly those exploiting job seekers.
Authorities have urged the public to thoroughly verify overseas job offers and avoid dealing with unregistered or unverified recruitment agencies. The crackdown on such schemes is ongoing, with law enforcement agencies working to dismantle the networks and bring perpetrators to justice.
Conclusion
The accused’s arrest is part of a broader effort to combat cybercrime and human trafficking, with a focus on protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation. As the threat of overseas job scams continues to rise, it is essential for job seekers to remain vigilant and cautious when pursuing employment opportunities abroad.
