WhatsApp Link Scam cheated a BSF Officer of Rs 3 lakh

| After clicking on a link sent to him over WhatsApp, a BSF officer assigned to the 95 Battalion at the BSF Bhondsi base on Sohna Road lost Rs 3.17 lakh to cybercriminals.

Andhra Pradesh native Snyala Venketeshrav has been identified as the victim. He claimed in his lawsuit that his phone was compromised on August 12 after he clicked on a link he had received on WhatsApp.

The officer filed a report on the NCRP portal and notified the cyber helpdesk after discovering the fraud. The South Cyber Police filed a case under Sections 318(4) (cheating) and 319 (cheating by impersonation) of the BNS in response to his complaint. The accused has not yet been located.
