3 Kotak Mahindra Bank Managers Got Arrested for Cyber Fraud in Gurugram

Mr. Rathi held the position of assistant manager at the MG Road branch of Kotak Mahindra Bank, whereas Mr. Kumar and Mr. Maurya held the positions of deputy managers.

Gurugram:  Four individuals, including 3 private bank managers, were detained in Gurugram today on suspicion of participating in cyber fraud, according to police.

They identified the accused as Mohit Rathi (25), a native of Haryana; Mahesh Kumar (27), a native of Gurugram; Vishwakarma Maurya (26); and Hayat (23), a native of Nuh, Haryana.

Mr. Rathi held the position of assistant manager at the MG Road branch of Kotak Mahindra Bank, whereas Mr. Kumar and Mr. Maurya held the positions of deputy managers.

Mr. Hayat maintained close ties with the leader of a cyber fraud syndicate and obtained bank account information from the managers, which he then forwarded to them, according to DCP (Cyber) Siddhant Jain.

“The 3 accused have been working in Kotak Mahindra Bank for the last 7 months and during this period they had opened about 2,000 bank accounts,” according to DCP Jain.

The official stated that they would deceive Bilaspur residents into opening new bank accounts in their names in order to obtain the bank account kit, which was subsequently utilized to conduct cyber frauds.

According to authorities, the incident was exposed when a Manesar resident lodged a complaint at the cyber crime police station on November 18 of last year.

The complainant stated that he was contacted via telephone and informed that his son had been confined to the hospital, requesting a transfer of 10,000 for assistance. According to officials, he subsequently transmitted the funds and subsequently came to the realization that he had been duped.

Police stated that in response to his complaint, an FIR was filed and that Mr. Rathi, Mr. Kumar, Mr. Vishwkarma, and Mr. Hayat were all arrested on February 21, February 22, and Monday, respectively.

The authorities added that two mobile phones had been retrieved from their possession.

“We are questioning the accused and details of bank accounts opened by the accused are being obtained,” according to the DCP.
