Law enforcement agencies have cracked a high-profile bank robbery case involving a gang that stole ₹42 lakh and 4 kg of gold from a Bank of Maharashtra branch in Jharkhand.
The Gang’s Plan Was Highly Meticulous
According to investigators, the gang conducted surveillance on multiple bank branches across different states before selecting their target.
The mastermind, Afzal, is believed to have orchestrated several similar robberies over the past decade, while his associates played key roles in executing the heist.
Robbery Details
- The gang entered the bank posing as customers and overpowered the staff using firearms and physical force.
- They disabled the bank’s alarm system using a cutter and forced open the strong room at gunpoint.
- Inside, they allegedly looted gold ornaments weighing around 4 kg along with ₹42 lakh in cash.
Crackdown and Recovery
- A portion of the stolen property has been recovered, including approximately 912 g of gold and ₹20 lakh in cash.
- The vehicle used in the crime was also seized by authorities.
The accused are currently under transit remand and are being interrogated in connection with other similar cases pending in multiple states.
