IAF Officer Duped of ₹1 Cr+ in Trading App Scam
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan: In a trading app scam, a serving Indian Air Force officer stationed in the Suratgarh region of Sriganganagar district lost more than ₹1 crore after being promised stock market investment techniques by cybercriminals. When the officer went to his bank to withdraw money and noticed an unusual transaction, the fraud was discovered.

The cyber police station has received a case.
Police claim that the thieves tricked the officer into sending money on several occasions by using a phony trading app. The officer fell into the trap after joining a WhatsApp group called “55 Shoonya Growth Club,” which provided trading advice and investment plans, according to Sriganganagar cyber cell DSP Kuldeep Walia. He installed the phony app and started corresponding with the scammers after a link was given in the group on July 7.
The commander, an IAF Wing Commander, moved more than ₹1.1 crore in various currency denominations from his SBI bank in Suratgarh to other accounts between June 10 and August 8.

When he attempted to withdraw the money on August 13, the scammers requested an extra ₹42 lakh, which made him suspicious. The officer then complained to the cyber cell and the NCRP portal, notified the bank management, and asked that the RTGS transfer be canceled.
In addition to obtaining information about the other accounts implicated, police have since halted transactions totaling ₹7 lakh and received details of the accounts where the money was put.
