Kota Rural Police Uncover Sophisticated Cybercrime Syndicate

A recent operation led by the Kota Rural Police has exposed a complex web of cybercrimes involving a network of at least 100 individuals. The group, centered in Haryana’s Nuh region, allegedly orchestrated a string of online scams, digital arrest schemes, and task-based cybercrimes, resulting in a staggering loss of ₹4.27 crore.

Operation Details

  • The gang utilized seven bank accounts to process and distribute ill-gotten gains obtained through various forms of online scams targeting victims nationwide.
  • Two key suspects, Javed and Irshad from Nuh, Haryana, were arrested and found to be involved in the operation, which is believed to have been orchestrated by a mastermind named Akil Mohammad.
  • Polic discovered that Akil controlled the network remotely through mobile communication, assigning tasks related to account collection, cash withdrawals, and fund transfers between different cities.
  • The gang allegedly planned to expand its operations by acquiring 15 additional bank accounts before being apprehended.
  • Several suspects connected to the network remain absconding, and authorities are working to uncover the broader scope of the cybercrime operation and identify additional individuals involved.
According to officials, the investigation revealed that the gang used local contacts to convince individuals to share their bank accounts in exchange for commissions.

Seized Assets

  • Cash worth ₹1.71 lakh was seized during the operation.
  • Four ATM cards, two POS machines, five SIM cards, and a vehicle allegedly used in the crime were also confiscated.

This significant haul highlights the growing concern over cybercrime and the need for law enforcement agencies to stay vigilant and proactive in addressing these threats.

Future Plans

As the investigation continues, officials aim to bring all those involved to justice and prevent such large-scale cybercrime operations from occurring in the future.
