Elon Musk Introduces xAI To Compete with OpenAI, The Inventor of ChatGPT.

According to the business’s website, xAI seeks to comprehend the real essence of the cosmos.

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors, has started a brand-new generative AI company called xAI to compete with companies like OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.

On its website, xAI stated that its mission is to comprehend the real essence of the universe.

Musk also recruited Dan Hendrycks, head of the Center for AI Safety, to be a member of xAI’s advisory board.  Hendrycks was a board official of OpenAI at the time of its founding in 2015.

Participants of the Center for AI Safety wrote an open statement in May warning that the emergence of AI could cause a global extinction and urging that regulating the technology be given top priority on a worldwide scale.

However, xAI, according to Musk, will not seek to clearly program ethical behavior into its AI engine but instead try to let it comprehend the real essence of the cosmos in order to make it more secure.  Musk has also been a vocal critic of ChatGPT and the overall path that other organizations are following on generative AI.

11 AI engineers who have made significant contributions to famous innovations while working at organizations like DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto have so far been employed by xAI, which has its headquarters in the San Francisco Bay area.

These engineers comprise previous DeepMind employees Igor Babuschkin, Greg Yang from Microsoft, Tony Wu, and Christian Szegedy from Google, among others.

As per the recently established company, these people have been instrumental in the development and advancement of technologies like the AlphaStar gaming platform, Google’s Minerva AI, OpenAI’s GPT-3.5, and GPT-4 big language models.

In order to grow its technical workforce, the organization is also seeking to recruit skilled engineers and investigators.

Musk clarified that xAI, which was incorporated in March, is a brand-new legal corporation separate from Twitter, which has been redesignated X Corp.

For the development of the forthcoming generative AI engine, Tesla and Twitter will collaborate closely with xAI, the business announced.
