Basic-Fit, Europe’s largest gym and fitness chain, has suffered a significant data breach affecting approximately 1 million members.
Unauthorized Access Detected
According to the company’s recent statement, unauthorized access to their systems was detected, and an investigation revealed that sensitive member information had been compromised.
The breach exposed personal data, including names, addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and bank account details, although Basic-Fit emphasized that identification documents and passwords were not accessed.
Affected Members Across Multiple Countries
The company, which operates over 1,500 clubs across Europe, serving around 5 million members, stated that roughly 200,000 members from the Netherlands are affected, while a separate estimate puts the number of affected members at approximately 1 million, spanning multiple countries such as Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
