New Cloud-Based Solution Introduced to Provide Sovereign Security Offering

A new cloud-based solution has been introduced to the market, designed to provide enterprises of all sizes with a sovereign security offering. The solution, called Sovereign SASE-as-a-Service, is a cloud-delivered SaaS platform that operates entirely within a region’s legal jurisdiction. This means that the data, control, and management planes are all hosted and managed within the same region, providing true digital sovereignty.

The Need for Digital Sovereignty

The need for digital sovereignty has become increasingly important in recent years, particularly in Europe where governments are asserting stronger authority over data residency and protection. The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Network and Information Systems (NIS2), and Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) frameworks are tightening enforcement standards, and data residency alone is no longer sufficient.

Existing SASE Offerings Fall Short

Many existing SASE offerings fall short of true sovereignty, as they often forward user traffic to security gateways in other regions for content and threat inspection. Others may perform localized inspection in a limited set of countries, but maintain operational control and management outside the jurisdiction where the data is processed. This creates a critical sovereignty gap, where user traffic may be routed outside the country for inspection, and user metadata may be logged outside the country.

New Solution Provides True Operational Sovereignty

To address this issue, the new Sovereign SASE-as-a-Service solution has been designed to provide true operational sovereignty. This requires more than just localizing the gateway, and placing gateways on customer premises does not close the gap. The solution has been developed in partnership with service providers worldwide, who have used it to build and operate sovereign SASE services for their customers.

“Many enterprises have invested in sovereign cloud strategies, only to discover that secure access to their applications and data was still governed outside their jurisdiction,” said Kelly Ahuja, CEO of the company behind the solution. “Deploying a cloud SASE provider’s appliance on customer premises does not make a solution sovereign. True sovereignty requires clarity on where access is secured, where policy is enforced, and who governs data while it is in motion.”

Accessible to Organizations of All Sizes

The new solution is designed to provide enterprise-grade sovereignty, making it accessible to organizations of all sizes. Until now, building and operating a sovereign SASE infrastructure required extensive resources and specialized expertise. With the Sovereign SASE-as-a-Service offering, enterprises can consume fully managed, jurisdictionally compliant security and networking without building or operating the infrastructure themselves.

The solution includes full-stack architectural sovereignty, with the data plane, control plane, management plane, and logging operating entirely on EU-hosted and controlled infrastructure. It is contracted through a Netherlands-based legal entity, with EU-governed operations, localized data processing, and support.

Cloud Simplicity

The solution also provides cloud simplicity, with fully managed SaaS-style consumption without requiring customers to build, staff, or operate sovereign infrastructure. This complements sovereign cloud initiatives from hyperscalers, which address where applications reside and data is stored, but not where data is inspected, routed, logged, and protected in motion.

“Many of our enterprise customers are looking for the SASE capabilities they trust, but delivered in a way that meets strict EU sovereignty and GDPR requirements,” said Boris Wetzel, Managing Director of a Germany-based IT security managed services provider. “This solution allows us to address those needs without changing the underlying platform or operating model, which is exactly what the market is asking for.”
