Meta has introduced enhanced account security features, including support for multiple passkeys, an upgraded two-step verification (2SV) system, and caller context functionality.

Meta reported that over 1 billion users now utilize passkeys for authentication. The update allows individuals to register multiple passkeys, offering greater flexibility for users accessing the platform across iOS and Android devices.
Upgraded Two-Step Verification
The 2SV mechanism has been modified to replace the previous six-digit PIN with a full password format. This change enables longer credentials incorporating alphanumeric characters and special symbols, improving resistance to brute-force attacks.
Caller Context Functionality
A separate feature, currently available only to Android users, provides additional caller identification details during incoming calls from unknown contacts. This includes geographic information and group membership status, aiming to reduce the risk of fraudulent interactions.
A representative emphasized that scammers often exploit urgency to manipulate users, stating, “Now you can take a beat with some more info before answering.”
Scam Alert Integration
This development follows the recent launch of Scam Alert, an AI-driven tool designed to detect and highlight suspicious messages from unverified contacts.
