Hacking Bank Customers’ Accounts

Nigerian Police (Zone 2 Command) has caught 2 accused for the accusation of hacking into bank customers’ A/cs. SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu (Zonal Public Relations Officer) cleared the arrest in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Mr. Mohammed Ali, who is in charge of the Zone that includes Lagos and Ogun, requested the arrest from a bank. She claimed that the 2 accused hid in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The accused admitted to the crime.

“They said that they operated several syndicates throughout Nigeria and used software to hack into their clients’ accounts and steal their money without being noticed by any bank.

“These opponents’ strategy is to obtain a customer’s BVN-linked phone number to facilitate simple money transfers.

As a result, more than 1,000 client accounts were compromised, resulting in widespread customer fraud.

According to further inquiry into the incident, the syndicates’ members were from various country regions.

An increased effort was being made to apprehend everyone involved in the crime.

While the investigation is still ongoing, the suspects will be charged once it is finished.

United Bank for Africa (UBA) filed a complaint with AIG alleging that some syndicates specialize in cyberattacks against several institutions in Nigeria, most notably United Bank for Africa (UBA).

“They shift customers’ money by breaking into their accounts.

“In response to the petition, the AIG assembled a group of investigators from the Zonal Monitoring Unit, who immediately got to work using cutting-edge equipment.
