Apple is reintroducing the contentious AI-powered news summaries feature and the Liquid Glass design with iOS 26 beta 4.

On Tuesday, July 22, Apple made the fourth iOS 26 beta available.  Along with a host of new capabilities, the most recent iOS beta brings a number of modifications to the Liquid Glass interface.  Some people referred to the design language as “frosted glass” because Apple had reduced the transparency in the most recent beta.

Apple has, however, reversed the modifications it made in the last beta while increasing the visibility of certain components.

The background automatically darkens to make it easier to read when users examine their notifications in the Notification Center, even if the reflections are now comparable to the second iOS 26 beta.

The AI-powered news notification summaries feature, which was turned off in earlier iOS 26 betas due to user complaints that Apple Intelligence was having trouble creating summaries in the News and Entertainment category, has been brought back by Apple.

Nevertheless, Apple also prompts users to “Verify information” and states that “Summarization may change the meaning of the original headlines.”

Additionally, the camera app’s user interface was updated, and when you first use it, Apple displays the changes.  Users of the most recent iOS 26 beta can additionally ask unknown callers why they are calling, disable the Call Screening feature, and have calls from unknown numbers automatically silenced.

Together with a new dynamic background that changes colors automatically, the Cupertino-based tech giant also added a new “Welcome” screen that shows up when you update to the latest version.

There may be a lot more changes because the release notes for iOS 26 beta 4 have not yet been posted on the Apple Developer website.  Apple released the iPadOS beta 4, macOS beta 4, watchOS 26 beta 4, tvOS 26 beta 4, and visionOS 26 beta 4 in addition to iOS 26 beta 4.

When the tech giant releases the eagerly awaited iPhone 17 series in September, Apple iOS 26 is predicted to be made available to the general public.
