Ahold Delhaize has isolated systems following a detected security incident, with no impact on retail operations.
Security Incident Response
Dutch-Belgian grocery giant Ahold Delhaize has initiated the isolation of certain systems following a detected security incident. The company disclosed in a minimal statement that a network vulnerability was identified, prompting immediate response protocols.
“Our teams are conducting an assessment and implementing mitigation measures, which involve temporarily disconnecting specific systems to enhance protection,” the organization stated. Ahold Delhaize confirmed that all retail locations remain operational and that customer service capabilities have not been disrupted. “Safeguarding our infrastructure is a critical priority for the benefit of customers, employees, and partners. We regret any inconvenience this situation may cause,” the company added.
Local Media Reports
Local media reports suggest uncertainty regarding a potential connection to a recent cyberattack affecting refrigeration units in hundreds of European supermarkets. SecurityWeek has sought further details from Ahold Delhaize and will update the report upon receiving additional information.
Past Cyberattacks and Data Breach
In November 2024, the company faced a cyberattack impacting Giant Food pharmacies, Hannaford supermarkets, Food Lion, The Giant Company, and Stop & Shop. By April 2025, the INC Ransomware ransomware group claimed responsibility for the breach, with the company later confirming data exfiltration from its systems. In June 2025, Ahold Delhaize reported to U.S. regulators that personal information of over 2.2 million individuals was compromised in the ransomware incident.
