Andhra Pradesh Police Launches 6-Point Plan to Combat Cyber Crime
Cyber Crime Policing Gets a Boost in Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) has launched a comprehensive plan to tackle cybercrime, which includes the creation of a 24/7 Cyber War Room and the deployment of AI-driven monitoring platforms.
According to the plan, a 30-minute lien marking mechanism for banks will be implemented to facilitate quicker recovery of funds lost due to online scams. This is seen as critical in addressing the “golden hour” period following a cyber-fraud report, during which prompt action can significantly increase the chances of recovering stolen funds.
Enhanced Capabilities
- Creation of a 24/7 Cyber War Room for real-time monitoring and response
- Deployment of AI-driven monitoring platforms to enhance threat detection and prevention
- Implementation of a 30-minute lien marking mechanism for banks to recover funds lost due to online scams
Rapid Response
- Identification of 500 officers for specialized training in the first phase
- Establishment of a three-tiered cyber response structure at the district level
Statewide Crackdown
- Direction to law enforcement agencies to invoke relevant laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act
- Action against organized networks spreading false content, hate campaigns, and communal provocation
This comprehensive approach demonstrates the state’s commitment to strengthening its cybercrime policing capabilities and improving field-level readiness. By addressing both response and recovery, as well as coordination between specialized and general policing structures, the plan aims to create a more effective and proactive cybercrime response system.
