Cyber security training to be provided for mothers in Kerala

V Sivankutty, the current education minister of Kerala announced cyber security training for women via an initiative of KITE. The government will provide cyber safety training to effectively use information technology in academic and administrative sectors. The education minister inaugurated the cyber security training for three lakh mothers as part of this initiative of cyber awareness. This 100-day program of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will provide the training to women via the LIttle KITEs IT clubs. Initially, this training program was intended to cover two lakh mothers but later it was raised to three lakhs.

The training program will be conducted in 5 sessions at different units of Little KITEs. In the 1st phase, the cyber security training will be provided to the first 150 parents. In the 3-hour session duration, more than 2000 schools connected with Little KITEs IT Clubs will provide cyber safety training on various topics related to cyber security, safe use of the internet, proper use of smartphones, and account security.

The program will also focus on cyber attack prevention, proper use of digital devices by children, checking facts and originality of news, and precautions to take for online transactions to safeguard oneself from online malicious actors. The minister said, by the end of this year, one million children and mothers will be trained to establish a safe digital ecosystem. The training program has already been on the run, the program was inaugurated at St Philomena’s Girs HS, Poonthura.

A Handbook on Cyber Security was released by the ministers for mothers. The chairperson of the woman commission, P Sathi Devi, and the director of the general education department with other senior ministers were present on the occasion.

Little KITEs, who will provide training to all the participants is part of the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission of the Kerala State Government. The objective of this club to encourage students involved in information and communication technology to create an ecosystem to properly use the technology and software. The government is ensuring the participation of students in using and promoting information technology at schools so that the productivity of students can be enriched. The Little KITEs Culb is focusing to make students and parents aware of proper and safe use of the internet to minimize cyber security threats
