On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Railway Minister, introduced the RailOne app in New Delhi.

According to officials, RailOne is committed to enhancing the passenger interface with the railways. It has an intuitive user interface and is a complete, all-in-one program. The app may be downloaded from the iOS App Store and the Android Play Store, according to a Railways representative. The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), a public sector undertaking (PSU) of the Railways, is the creator of the app.

All passenger services, such as a 3% discount on platform and unreserved tickets, live train monitoring, grievance resolution, e-catering, porter reservations, and last-mile cab services, are integrated into the RailOne app.

“IRCTC (the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, the PSU that offers ticketing, catering, and tourism services for the Railways) will continue to issue reserved tickets. Like many other commercial apps that have partnered with the IRCTC, the RailOne app has also been authorized by the IRCTC,” according to the spokeswoman.

The RailOne app allows for single sign-on with biometric or mPIN authentication.  Additionally, it supports current UTS and RailConnect credentials. Daily train passengers can purchase unreserved tickets through Indian Railways’ mobile ticketing software, UTS.

According to officials, RailOne saves space on devices since it eliminates the need to install several apps.

Mr. Vaishnaw also praised the CRIS team for the advancements made in modernizing the current Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and urged CRIS to concentrate on further bolstering the digital core of the Indian Railways.  “To manage ten times the existing demand, the contemporary PRS will be scalable, multilingual, and adaptable.”  According to the statement, “it will be able to process 40 million inquiries and 1.5 lakh ticket bookings every minute.”

“The new PRS will be inclusive and have advanced fare calendar and seat choice functionalities, as well as integrated options for patients, students, and divyangjan (people with disabilities),” a Railways spokeswoman stated.

Major changes in Indian Railways effective from July 1

  • The Ministry has required that Aadhaar-verified IRCTC IDs be used to book Tatkal and emergency tickets as of July 1. This action attempts to stop IRCTC partner agents from abusing the system by booking tickets in large quantities, which frequently prevents actual travelers from securing bookings.
  • The first reservation chart timing revision is another important change to train services. The chart will no longer be prepared four hours before the train’s scheduled departure; instead, it will now be prepared eight hours beforehand.
  • A minor change to Indian Railways’ existing train prices has also been announced. Under the new arrangement, the cost of non-AC Mail and Express trains will go up by ₹0.01 per kilometer, while the cost of AC class trains will go up by ₹0.02 per kilometer. Suburban rates, second-class tickets for trips under 500 km, and monthly season tickets will not be affected by this change, nevertheless.
