Three Arrested in Cyber Fraud Scheme Involving Bank Accounts
Delhi Police have dismantled a scheme involving the provision of bank accounts to cybercriminals, leading to the arrest of three individuals from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Investigation Traces Fraudulent Money Trail
Authorities scrutinized banking records, mobile numbers, and Know Your Customer (KYC) documents to track the movement of illicit funds. During the probe, investigators identified a sum of ₹72,000 linked to a bank account belonging to Shivam Kumar, a resident of Muzaffarnagar. Further examination of financial transactions revealed additional connections in the money laundering network.
Multiple Accounts Under Scrutiny
A separate investigation uncovered ₹49,900 credited to an account associated with Rajender Sharma, a Delhi resident.
Arrests in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh
According to officials, the accused allegedly facilitated the creation of bank accounts for cybercriminals in exchange for financial incentives. These accounts were reportedly used to receive and redirect funds obtained through online fraud schemes.
Based on digital evidence, including banking records, KYC documentation, and mobile phone data, Delhi Police detained three suspects from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The investigation highlighted the role of these individuals in enabling cyber fraud operations by providing access to financial infrastructure.
Ongoing Probe
Authorities continue to examine the broader network linked to the scheme, focusing on connections to larger cybercrime operations. The case underscores the growing reliance on mule accounts to obscure the flow of illicit funds, a tactic frequently employed in digital fraud ecosystems.
